  Testing

Testing - The reason my neighbors don't let their children visit very often. After a piece is finished, my staff (such as it is...) and I will take it outside & run some simple katas and stress tests to make sure nothing is loose or un-sound. No steel to steel contact stuff, of course, as who wants a dinged blade? But, all the running around and screaming is a great stress reliever.

Pewter Casting - Totally separate yet integral to the Armoury operation is our pewter spincast machine. The nice thing about spin casting is that, since pewter melts around 600 degrees or even lower, it doesn't require all that damned messy investment to pour into. Using centrifugal force, we simply pour molten metal directly into high temperature rubber molds spinning at high speed and 15 minutes later, we pop out a cast tree ready for cut-off & finishing. This allows us to make all those nifty guild pins and other dubious knick-knacks we're known for.
